age 63, of Needham, MA died unexpectedly on October 4, 2017 from complications due to metastatic melanoma. He leaves behind his loving wife Jane, son Joshua, daughter Dora, and a large extended family. Professionally, Robert was a computer scientist, working for many years at Teradyne and more recently at Siemens. He met Jane playing Ultimate Frisbee, and was inducted into the USA Ultimate Hall of Fame in 2009. Robert was a true polymath. He was fascinated by natural history and evolutionary biology and immersed himself in reading and learning about these subjects and others. When Robert went for a hike he could identify nearly every bird and plant. He was particularly interested in native plants and transformed his yard into a beautiful native habitat. Robert also enjoyed being on the water and built several wooden kayaks. He loved choral music and sang with the Metropolitan Chorale of Boston for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at Temple Beth Shalom, 670 Highland Ave., Needham. The family will be receiving visitors at the temple immediately following services until 3:00 pm.
