of Needham, passed away peacefully in her home on November 22 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved daughter of the late Morris and Ruth Miller. She leaves behind her daughter, Andrea Berman and her son-in-law, Robert Jones. Sandi grew up in Boston and New Bedford and spent many, many summers by the beach at the family cottage in Hull. She loved everything about the beach and the ocean. That love was passed on to her daughter, whom she raised alone as a strong single mother. Sandi was a high school English, History and Civics teacher for her entire career, with a passion and talent for engaging the minds of students from difficult backgrounds. In the middle of her career, and while raising a teenage daughter, she went back to school and received her Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University. She enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking for family, and chatting with dear friends. The service will be held graveside on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 11:00am at the Hebrew Home for the Aged Cemetery, 776 Baker Street in West Roxbury. This will be followed by Shiva at her home, 87 Curve Street, Needham, MA. Shiva will continue at her home through Wednesday, November 29, from 10am onward. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vernon Cancer Center through donations to the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Charitable Foundation, 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462.
